Mystery quilt

Several years ago my daughter, Jennifer, invited me to a mystery quilt night at a local fabric shop as my mother's day gift. COOL HUH? I finally finished the quilt by having a friend do the meandering quilting on her HQ16 and then last night I completed the label and binding. So here it is!!! For whatever reason I've always thought it looked like a picnic tablecloth, LOL. I wish I'd switched the yellow and the blue positions but it is what it is and I'll cherish its beginnings!! One more UFO off the list!

Today we had to get up verrrrrrrrrrrry early to have hubby at the hospital for his ESWL procedure. The kidney stone is pulverized small enough to pass now and he hasn't had any pain. Isn't that terrific?!

Monday we had the most gorgeous weather here and had Jaiden and Ethan for the day. What a truly spectacular day we spent together playing outside. The dogs got to run the back property, both kids were loving the swing, and Jaiden hiked her grandpa all over the back. She even rode her big girl bike with the training wheels! My goodness but she is growing up fast. Ethan was absolutely enthralled with being outside in the swing even when it wasn't moving. True to form Jaiden was here about 2 1/2 minutes before she asked to put on her blue princess dress (Cinderella), her glass slippers and find her magic wand. She is such a doll. Ethan is crawling now, loves to stand but really hated the turkey vegetables his mother sent for his lunch, YUK. Be sure to note the snack box I dug out for him as there weren't any snacks in his bag, hahaha! I sent the picture to his mom at work as a joke :-) So here are some pictures of their day, I just have to share their smiling faces.

Happy Easter

Hope each of you had a happy Easter with family and friends. I also hope that you're not missing any eggs, LOL!! Did you count? Are you SURE? That's okay, you'll know anyway in a couple weeks.

My hubby went to brunch at our daughter's and was there for the Easter egg hunt. I have been too sick and just didn't have the energy to go nor did they need to catch my "bugs". It made me so sad to miss the day but they did send me home a "doggy bag" and emailed me some great pictures of my little darlings. I'll share pictures soon.

Off to do a little hand sewing and then to bed. I'm going to try and go back to work tomorrow but am so not looking forward to working the next 5 out of 7 days with two of them potentially 12 hour shifts, UGH.

Barbie turns 50!!

Is this hysterical or what?! Mary Lou Weidman posted this on her blog and gave me permission to use it here. I am still cracking up over this, LOL!! Mary Lou is another favorite quilter, designer, author and acquaintance. She exudes creativity and I'm sure you'd enjoy reading her blog, peruse her quilts and see life through her cheery eyes!

Still alive, barely kickin'

Seems I've been chosen for every virus out there these last couple of weeks. I don't think I've an ounce of immunity left anywhere so continue to slowly scuff around in my slippers from bed to bathroom and back again. I should have bought stock in Kleenex tissues and toilet paper for sure! Goodness gracious but this hasn't been any fun at all and haven't worked in a week. What have I done you ask? You mean besides shuffle around?? Well I did manage to go through a bazillion quilting magazines and mark or tear out "must make someday" patterns. Then tossed or filed the magazine. I've reduced the bulk by a lot and hope someday I can go through them again and toss more. I certainly will never live long enough to come close to making all the beautiful quilts I see, ho hum. When I got sick the first time I went through all my fabric stash and pulled out anything I didn't love. Then I packed it up and it is going to the womens prison where they are taught to make quilts for charity. These are the things you can do when you are finally starting to feel a little better as they don't require much energy I found. You get so sick of yourself lying in bed day after day. Hope you're having a healthy day! I do believe I might be coming back from the dead............................

Could it be???

Do you think it could really be SPRING? OH MY! We had temperatures in the low 70's today, woot hoot!!!! Daffodils are in bloom, my plum tree is budded out and people everywhere were cleaning up their yards. I drove with the sun roof open and it was heaven. I let the dogs take a run through our property behind the house and checked on the new fruit trees and blueberry bushes we planted. Went to Starbuck's to meet the girls and grandkids. How could I resist the invitation when it came from my granddaughter?! So I snapped a new picture of the 3 grandkids and put it on my blog page as well as my compter desktop background. Tonight was Manwich sandwiches, potato salad and corn. Definitely a sign of spring menus to come. Time to clean up the bar-b-que for sure! Hope you are enjoying a piece of Spring wherever you are too!!

Ethan and Jack's visit

Today brought tiny visitors! Ethan is sitting on his new quilt. He was generous and let Jack stand on it too, haha. At last the quilt is done and home with Ethan where it belongs. The boys are getting so big! Hard to believe that Ethan is almost 9 months old and Jack 8 months.

Now I'm working on the binding of another quilt, this one is mine. It was born of a mystery quilt class that Jennifer treated me to (with her) for Mother's Day a few years back.

Gene worked in the yard for awhile today while the temperatures were mild and the sun shining. What a treat that was! Tomorrow they say we'll have more fine weather. I hope that this isn't just a tease of Spring. This morning our woodpecker was out and about. He moved on before I could get a picture but will keep trying.

Last night I fell asleep playing Bejeweled2 in bed on the iPod, LOL! Gene had to turn out my light. I think I'm addicted to that game and have it on my phone and the iPod. It's similar to when I cross stitch and just need to do a few more stitches to see what the next area will look like. Well the game calls to me to play again and try once more to do better, gggg. I think tonight I should just stick with my book. I'm currently reading Double Cross by James Patterson. Jennifer brought me 2 books by Catherine Coulter that she got hooked on so guess they'll be next. Have a great night!

TGIF

Yep, it's finally Friday and I'm off the weekend. YAY! Today was a pretty good day at work, Jennifer is over the flu and out celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TIM AND JENNIFER!!! They were going to Anthony's for dinner and I can't wait to hear how it was. My weekend plans include some housekeeping, ugh. What about yours? I hope to finish the hand sewing on Ethan's quilt and maybe get a little farther along preparing things for Jaiden's quilt. The sun was out some today and I'm hoping to see more of it this weekend! Night all.
