My day with Ethan

Our handsome little man spent the day with us while his parents and sister went to the Seattle Aquarium. He was such a good little guy for us. His auntie brought Jack over to play for awhile as well but all those pictures have big time red eye, LOL. I will post one when I can get them fixed, ha. Jack looks adorable with his new haircut!!
I was on call nights this weekend and got called in both nights. Just figures that the day folks didn't get called in at all!
Jennifer and I got our reservation # for the Norwegion Cruise line and that allowed us to check out where on the ship we'll be. I am getting so excited I can hardly settle down to do the things that need doing. Geeze it's still 3 months away, I should be a real basket case by the time May gets here. Next we will decide on what excursions we might want to book.
I ripped out a sweater I was working on for Ethan. It was going to be HUGE! I will make the next smaller size and still wonder if it will be too big at Christmas. I also have gotten started on the aran afghan for the new little one to be :-)

New yarn stash!

Here is what my trip to the yarn shop netted me Thursday. There's cream Cascade 220 superwash for the aran afghan. Then 3 sock yarns for little ones tootsies. See the tiny bootie? Still need to do its mate. That orange and teal is luscious Baby Ull by Dale of Norway. I have a baby teddy bear and booties planned to match the baby bunting Jennifer is making. Then picked up a new sock pattern and the book Baby Beanies that I fell in love with and just had to have (even though Jennifer already has it, ho hum)! In the back right corner is the sweater I've started for Ethan and in the left front is the cute new knitting accessory pouch I bought, LOL. Um I might have bought other yarn too but it was the wrong thing so am returning it tomorrow along with 2 sets of DP needles I already have, ROFLOL! OK, just needed to share this last splurge. More smooches to all!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

It's Valentine's Day and wanted to wish each of you a LOVELY day!! Is there love in the air at your house today?

I've been incredibly busy with things at home and work. The blog suffers I know but must prioritize to maintain sanity when life gets too busy.

Isn't this just the cutest cake idea?! It comes from the Crafty Crafty site. http://www.craftycrafty.tv/2009/02/galleries/gallery_crafty_craftys_valenti.php?pic=1
I've had a quiet day playing with our new little ACER Aspire One computer notebook. It is so small and cute as can be. We are calling it our "cruise gear", LOL. I began the day by sleeping in as I'm on call from 7pm to 7am tonight and tomorrow night, ugh. I usually do okay until about 2 or 3am and any later I drag, ha. So far I'm not hearing news that I'll be expected so everyone cross your fingers there aren't any emergency surgeries to take me away from the new toy tonight, LOL.

The past week has found me knitting, shopping, working and planning new baby projects. Jennifer and I did some damage at one of our yarn shops with new yarns, books and needles! Last night I got started on a new aran baby afghan for the new grandbaby she's carrying, WOOT HOOT.

SMOOCHES everyone!!

Patterns for WHAT you ask?

Oh my! A new baby on the way??? YES, YES, YES!!!!

Tuesday night we got the news that Jennifer is pregnant! How fabulous is that? VERY!

We are so incredibly happy for them that I still get teary just thinking about it!

We all gathered at a restaurant to get the news and celebrated with much noise and tears followed by a little Mexican food, ha!

So I've dug through all of my baby quilt patterns as well as knitting patterns and finally settled on a few things to choose from. First though I will finish this previously begun baby afghan and the second little baby bootie to the one I knit the other night, LOL!

Okay, it's still a secret over on Jennifer's blog and Facebook too so if you're inclined to congratulate her do it here and she'll read it with delight!

Sorting

I spent today sorting through knitting magazines, books and patterns. I was able to toss a few magazines by just keeping the pattern or two I might want someday [should I live to be a healthy 300 year old LOL!]. I wasn't feeling my perkiest so it was a quiet activity but productive. I came across some great patterns and have them all marked. Then I got out a baby afghan that was on my list to finish. Sadly I ripped out more rows than I put in. There was already an error in the last row when I had quit before. It didn't show up again until I got to the pattern stitch row. Hate when that happens don't you? So I set it aside for tonight. Gene got started laying the new floor in our entryway. I am so excited! Jennifer brought Jaiden with her to show off her new van! YAY for her! Now us girls and all the kids fit in one vehicle! Off to get some sleep and read a little of my new book by J A Jance. It is called Hand of Evil.

Spring in my kitchen

My darling hubby planted these bulbs for me and placed them in my kitchen garden window. They have bloomed and smell so good! As I poured my morning coffee I realized I just had to share a breath of spring with you too!! The friends cup was given me by my dear friend Lora who lives in Florida. I love using it on my days off and lounge around for awhile with my coffee. It reminds me of good times and warm friendship that has lasted through the years and across the miles. Of course I know she's a whole lot warmer this morning than I am, LOL.

Absolutely had to share Ethan in his new hat with his mommy holding both him and the afghan to go with it! Isn't he just precious?! I stopped there last night on my way home from work to drop them off as well as to see my daughter's new paint job in her living room and kitchen. Great choices Aime!! Both my girls are painting up a storm in their homes and doing a wonderful job of creating warm and inviting spaces.

Check out Brenda's blog, she's having a birthday month give-a-way!! http://cowgirlwithquilts.blogspot.com

She also has a photo of the most beautiful red scarf she knit herself, my very favorite color!

More finished works from my needles

Knitting needles that is! TA DA! Ethan's baby afghan and hat are completed just in time for the coldest month of winter here in our part of the world (or so they say). We've had one cold winter so hope they're wrong, LOL. So whatcha think? Will he like it? The hat was quick but I felt like I worked on that afghan forever. Now I can claim a 3rd unfinished project completed and the start and finish of another (the hat). Next? Well I'm thinking it will have to be sewing together an orange and pink tote bag I knit 2 years ago and then get it felted. That will be the UFO I work on. Of course I will have to also start something new.............. but it's a secret for now.
Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate a couple of things, including my passing ACLS. (Sure don't know why I let that overwhelm me so much, ha!) So wanted to share a photo or two. One is my fabulous hubby and the other my PERFECTLY cooked steak, ha! We went to Jimmy Mac's Roadhouse and it was a fun place to be. Casual, sort of like a sports bar without as many TV's and noise. All the tables had checkered vinyl cloths and all the chairs were from the 50's with chrome and shiny red vinyl seats, LOVED IT! You pick up a bowl of warm peanuts as you enter and note that the shells are tossed to the floor! Then you are handed a basket of the most delicious warm yeast rolls and honey butter you have ever tasted. Oh gosh but now I'm salivating all over again. We were stuffed so the idea of stopping at Coldstone for dessert on the way home was squashed. It was such a great day, we haven't spent much time together lately. What else did we celebrate you ask? Welllllllllllll, we might have bought an iPod Touch! It doesn't do dishes or take pictures but it does everything and more than we need it to do, LOL. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Blackberry but this iPod opens up even more worlds for me and my hubby who doesn't have a Blackberry. It receives and sends email via WiFi, has maps and gives directions, you can load music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and BOOKS! There's an address book and assortment of other reel you in gadgets that screamed BUY ME at us, gggggggggggggg. Now if we just had someone to come set it up?! hmmmmmmmmmmmm, still working on that and in fact guess I'll go see if I can give it another try. Enjoy your Super Bowl day if that's what you're into. No game on here, we aren't sports lovers and after spending so much money yesterday I will stay away from the local quilt shop sales too.
